CILIP’s Framework of Qualifications provide a range of qualifications which are assessed through portfolio submissions. They include:
Certification – para-professionals award Chatership – ‘second level professional award’ awarded by CILIP. Fellowship – highest level of professional qualification. Revalidations - open to all Chartered members and Fellows who wish to gain recognition of their commitment to personal professional development.
Introduction to Certification (CILIP website) This section includes supporting documents for those wanting to undertake certification. It includes: Regulations - a link to the Certification Handbook, Forms - copies of the forms which need to be completed for certification. Supporting information – This page includes links to a range of resources and information about support available. Example Submission – section includes sample portfolios. You will need to be a member of Cilip and logged into the CILIP website to access this section.

Other CILIP Support Available
Candidate Support Officers organise events that support those working towards a CILIP qualification, such as ‘Introduction to Chartership’ events. They can also offer support to candidates. Preeti Puligari is the West Midlands CSO.

Mentoring Scheme A mentor is mandatory for Chartership candidates and recommended for Certification. This section details about the CILIP mentoring scheme, the training needed to become a mentor and how to find a mentor.

Planning framework for candidates planning and working towards chartered status with CILIP, Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. This document includes a skills and knowledge checklist which Chatership candidates can use to identify the areas in which they are already confident in and those areas which will need to go on your PPDP.
Portfolio Development - developed by the Staff Development Group Iincludes examples of reflective writing and examples of different types of evidence linked to the KSF. Also included are suggestions for further reading.
